The business community of Southern Punjab has vehemently condemned the unprovoked firing by Afghan troops causing the death of seven people including three Frontier Constabulary soldiers engaged in census of population. They said that international institutions should take notice of this unwarranted situation at Pak-Afghan border. President of Multan Chamber of Commerce & Industry( MCCI) Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi said that there was no justification for attacking the neighbouring villages of border areas on a team engaged in population census.

He said that trade between Afghanistan and Pakistan was once again suspended as Chaman border crossing has been sealed. Citing the statement of ISPR, Roomi said the Afghan border guards' firing comes despite the fact that Afghan authorities had been informed in advance about the census exercise in Pakistan and co-ordination was carried out through diplomatic and military channels.
